Hazel Grove Labour Party selects Parliamentary candidate

Labour Party members in the Hazel Grove constituency have selected Richard Scorer to be their parliamentary candidate when the election is called.

Richard is a solicitor and partner with a leading law firm in Manchester city centre, where he specialises in representing victims of serious injury, victims of crime and people with disabilities.

 Richard’s political priorities are:
 
  • A strong economy
  • Fighting crime
  • Investment in public services – education and NHS
  • A cleaner, greener environment
  • Improving public transport

 Richard says: ‘I am delighted to have been selected as Labour’s parliamentary spokesperson for Hazel Grove. I am looking forward to a positive campaign focusing on the issues that people in Hazel Grove care about. I want to listen and to learn and I will work hard to make sure local residents get the representation they deserve.’

Biography

Richard, 40, was born in south London where he attended local schools. He studied at Edinburgh University and won a scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania in the USA. Whilst in the USA Richard worked on Democratic Party election campaigns. Richard came to Manchester in 1992 to train as a lawyer. He is married with two children aged 11 and 9. Richard is a trustee of various disability charities and has been a school governor and community health council member. In his spare time Richard enjoys running and playing football and snooker with his kids!
